Building Atmosphere: Peter Zumthor and His Places

Switzerland, Austria, Germany

The Story

Having once been a carpenter and with 11 years of experience in the restoration department of historical buildings, Peter Zumthor became an extraordinary figure without formal architecture education. As he advises the younger members of his office: an architect must know how to build and should also possess imagination.

The journey to explore Zumthor's architectural works spans Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, encompassing 13 works that represent all phases of his career, as well as five leading workshops he has collaborated with. Additionally, 9 architectural masterpieces designed by other architects can be experienced within the context of great natural scenery.
