Soul of Forming: Modern and Contemporary Swiss Architecture

Switzerland, Austria

The Story

As a mountainous, multi-ethnic, and multilingual country, Switzerland does not exhibit a single dominant architectural style that stands out like an isolated peak. Instead, Swiss architecture is characterized by multiple peaks, much like undulating hills. In terms of diversity and the enigmatic aspects of architecture, other countries are incomparable to Switzerland.

The tour of modern and contemporary Swiss architecture traverses the Alps and spans four major language areas in Switzerland. It features over 50 representative works by renowned architects such as Mario Botta, Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, Peter Zumthor, and rising stars like Christian Kerez and Valerio Olgiati. Additionally, this journey systematically introduces Switzerland's architectural education system and traditional craftsmanship, allowing us to reconsider our own methods and intentions.
