Inward Garden: The World of Luis Barragán
Mexico
The Story
When considering the tradition of construction and architectural typology, Mexico is a rich country that boasts remnants of ancient indigenous cultures, colonial towns with intricate textures, and pioneering modern architectural and planning practices, as exemplified by Luis Barragán.
The exploration of Mexican architecture encompasses the study of both historical and contemporary architectural treasures in Mexico. This journey will visit 15 of Barragán's representative works from various periods. You will be able to deeply engage with the masterpieces of the 1980 Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate and trace his evolution from a youthful innovator to a figure of mature stature.
In this architectural journey through Mexico, we will not only step into the luminous spaces of Luis Barragán, seeking the source of his design language, but also explore outstanding contemporary Mexican architectural works, while deeply immersing ourselves in the nation's profound cultural heritage.
