Tracing the Journey of Japanese Architecture toward Modernity

Since the 20th century, a significant number of Japanese architects have redefined the visual and conceptual landscape of Japanese architecture. They have done so by reinterpreting traditional aesthetics with contemporary materials and techniques, and by merging functionalism with regional characteristics. In this journey of "absorption, reconstruction, and innovation", Japan's influence on the global architectural stage is considerable.

The journey explores the order of the modern metropolis, examining recent works by Toyo Ito, Yoshio Taniguchi, and Kazuyo Sejima, as well as classical pieces by Tadao Ando and Hara Hiroshi.
