Vanguard & Eclecticism: The Odyssey of Spanish Architecture toward Modernity

Spain

The Story

Like the fearless "Don Quixote" penned by Cervantes, Spanish architecture is characterized by its freedom, disorder, randomness, and serendipity. Renowned talents such as Gaudí, Moneo, Calatrava, and Miralles have emerged from this vibrant culture.

The tour of Spanish modern and contemporary architecture peels back the layers of Spain's stellar modern and contemporary architectural heritage. It explores the 20 most exciting projects in the modern architectural history of Spain and Europe. Included are four exemplary works from the 2017 Pritzker Prize laureates RCR, offering an opportunity to engage with a Pritzker Prize winner directly. This journey will provide a comprehensive view of Spain's exceptional architectural achievements, enabling us to gradually understand the essence of Spanish contemporary architecture.
